Gear List

The weather in New Zealand can be very unpredictable, so it is important that you bring enough gear and clothing to be comfortable in all conditions.

It is not uncommon to experience 'four seasons in one day' so quality rain gear and light weight, packable, warm clothing is essential.

Fleece, wool or wool blend clothing like Under Armour, First Lite and Kuiu are well suited to our conditions, so please leave the cotton at home!

Keep in mind that if you are on a back pack hunt, you will be carrying everything with you until a base camp is set up - heavy, bulky clothing is not recommended. If we are hunting on private land, we will likely drive right to the base camp so a few heavier luxuries are ok.

Southern Sky Outfitters has a range of quality equipment available for our clients use - please let us know prior to your hunt if you require anything from this list.

Click here for a printable PDF version of our gear list.

*Please note that we will provide camping gear such as tents and cooking equipment (incl. plates, cups, utensils).
